Cultivation tips

Polygala tenuifolia
Indoor

  • Sow thinly in a lightweight sterilized soil mix.  Cover twice seeds thickness with soil.  Press firmly and water.  Keep the soil evenly moist but not soggy.  Expose seedlings to direct light.  Transplant the seedlings to pots once they are large enough to handle.  Most sun loving herbs require 5 hours of direct sunlight or 12-16 hours of fluorescent light.

Outdoor

  • Start indoors and transplant when danger of frost has passed.  Alternatively, the seeds can be sowed directly in rows 12-36 inches apart.  Cover three times seed thickness with soil.  Press firmly and water.  Keep the soil even moist, but not soggy.  Once the seedlings have sprouted, think to 8-20 inches apart.
