Description
Coleus blumei is a species of flowering plant in the Lamiaceae family. This species also goes by the synonyms Plectranthus scutellarioides and Solenostemon scutellarioides. Coleus blumei is typically grown as an annual, but in areas without freezes the species can be grown as a perennial. Coleus blumei is native to India, Sri Lanka, China, Burma, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and Australia. However, this species is now cultivated around the world. The Mazatec Indians of southern Mexico have been reported to use Coleus blumei for its mind altering effects.
