Description
Bhut jolokia is an interspecific hybrid of Capsicum chinense and Capsicum frutescens and is closely related to the Naga morich of Bangladesh. Â This chili pepper hybrid was first cultivated in the Indian states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland, and Manipur. Â Bhut jolokia also goes by the names Ghost Pepper, Ghost Chili, U-morok, Red Naga, Naga jolokia, and Ghost jolokia. Â Bhut jolokia produces extremely hot peppers that measure 2.4 to 3.2 inches long and 1.0 to 1.2 inches wide. Peppers from this species have been recorded as having a Scoville rating of over 1,000,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU’s). Â Please wash your hands and avoid rubbing your eyes after handling the seeds. Â This particular species matures between 100 and 120 days.
