Description
Caesalpinia pulcherrima is a semi-evergreen flowering shrub from the pea family. Some of the common names for this species include Pride of Barbados, Red Bird of Paradise, Mexican Bird of Paradise, and Poinciana. Caesalpinia pulcherrima can be found natively in the tropics and subtropics of the Americas. The shrub can grow to heights slightly over 9 feet tall. The shrub will produce flowers with yellow, orange, and red petals. These flowers commonly attract butterflies and hummingbirds.
